As a child growing up in the interior of Saudi Arabia miles away from the closest settlement,  I was often left to my own creativity to keep me busy, always building something, arranging found objects, and to my mother’s dismay, putting things in places just because they “fit so perfectly in that space”. There were hundreds of drawings made of my left hand, the one subject I could pose exactly the way I wanted it. I carved things out of hard dirt clods, I used the local obsidian and made ‘stone age tools’, and twisted wire and discarded radio transistors to build ‘things’. One of these creations looked like it should move, go, do something…. so I stuck it in the electric outlet … and it certainly did do something! My first electric shock in the name of Art!
